Financial AssistanceVA BenefitsFlightSafety Academy is a VA-approved flight training school. The VA reimburses qualified veterans directly at 60 percent of the cost of approved training hours, up to the maximum time and money that you qualify for. There are specific requirements and exceptions. You must enroll in an FAA-approved Part 141 program. FlightSafety Academy has a number of these, including commercial pilot training courses (above the private pilot level), multi-engine class ratings, instrument ratings, flight instructor courses, Advanced Airline Training Program and ATP. The VA will reimburse 60% of the cost of dual and solo flight, dual simulator training, pre- and post-flight briefings, and ground school up to the maximum VA allotment for each program. There is no reimbursement for training towards your private pilot license (the VA considers it recreational) or for any unusual attitude training completed in the Zlin aircraft. Books and supplies, drug testing, aptitude testing, GAT training, and Crew Resource Management are not eligible for VA reimbursement. FlightSafety Academy also provides FAA Part 61 programs that are not open to benefits. A Veterans Application for Benefits form should be completed and returned to our benefits coordinator along with your DD214 prior to enrolling at the Academy. FlightSafety Academy will then submit the appropriate forms to the VA along with an Enrollment Certification. After each month of training, we will total all training hours (flight and ground) completed and submit a Monthly Certification Form to the VA. The VA will then reimburse you directly, based on your benefit eligibility. It can take up to 120 days from the time we submit your paperwork for you to receive your reimbursement. Any questions? Call or email our VA Benefits Coordinator or visit the VA’s website www.vba.va.gov/. Questions on eligibility or maximum entitlement can be answered by contacting the Veterans’ Administration, at the education benefit telephone number: (888) 442-4551. It is strongly recommended that you contact our VA representative before attending flight training. ScholarshipsFlightSafety Academy does not offer scholarships. Many aviation-related organizations do, but opportunities are limited. The following links might provide a good start for your search: |
