History
FlightSafety Academy has been the flight school of choice for thousands who've made the decision to become professional pilots. FlightSafety Academy graduates flying commercial airliners and business jets around the world uphold our founder's belief that "the best safety device in any aircraft is a well-trained pilot."

FlightSafety International, our parent organization owned by Berkshire Hathaway, was founded in 1951 by A.L. Ueltschi. A former airline and business aircraft pilot, Mr. Ueltschi saw the opportunity to offer aviation professionals state-of-the-art proficiency training and developed FlightSafety International, now the world's leader in pilot training. Today, Mr. Ueltschi resides here in Vero Beach and also has a home in New York. His legacy in the aviation industry extends almost the entire history of aviation itself. Today, more than 75,000 aviation professionals train at FlightSafety facilities each year for commercial, business, military and private aviation.

The Vero Beach Municipal Airport was officially dedicated in 1930 and was actually utilized for commercial service in 1932 by Eastern Airlines and passenger service in 1935. In 1942 Vero Beach's Airport was the chosen location for a US Naval Air Station that operated until 1947! Today KRVB averages 502 operations daily!
