Benefits
Training at FlightSafety Academy does more than prepare you for a career in aviation - it provides you with a professional partner and the experiences you need to succeed. Of the many reasons the Academy is the right choice, we've listed some of the primary benefits we offer the aspiring professional pilot.
- The Highest Standards
The Academy is dedicated to the career-oriented pilot, and our admissions requirements are based on airline standards. Airlines and corporate flight departments know of this dedication and recognize FlightSafety Academy graduates as some of the most well-prepared and committed pilots. Because of our reputation for having such high standards, our graduates are often the most sought after newcomer pilots in the industry.
- Large, Dedicated Fleet
FlightSafety Academy owns and operates one of the largest training fleets in the industry. Consisting of more than 80 single- and multi-engine aircraft, including 20 Piper Seminoles, our fleet is dedicated to the exclusive use of Academy students and instructors. When you need an aircraft for training, you know one will be ready for you. And to ensure our fleet is one of the safest in the industry, we provide a comprehensive on-site maintenance program in our FAA-approved repair station. This program includes standard checks every 60 hours - more often than the FAA recommended frequency of every 100 hours.
- A Fully Accredited School
FlightSafety Academy is approved by the Federal Aviation Administration; by the U.S. Department of Education; by the U.S. Department of Justice for non-immigrant training; and is licensed by the Commission of Independent Education, Florida Department of Education, as well as being an accredited member of the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges. When you want to train at a school backed by integrity and accountability, choose FlightSafety Academy.
- It's Where the Professionals Train
When you train with FlightSafety Academy, you receive the same high-quality training selected by many of the world's leading airlines and corporate flight departments for their active pilots. More than 75,000 aviation professionals train at FlightSafety facilities each year and the Academy bases it's training programs on the same experience and preparation that make FlightSafety International an industry leader. If you want to be a professional pilot, train where professional pilots train.
- More Multi-Engine Experience
Airlines require pilots to have a great deal of multi-engine experience before they're hired. That's why our Professional Pilot Program offers at least 30 hours of training in our multi-engine flight training devices (Frasca 142) and 55 hours of multi-engine in-flight training. Additionally, instructor pilots at the Academy have the opportunity to earn several hundred multi-engine hours during the first year of instructing. While most schools provide only 10 to 15 hours of multi-engine experience, FlightSafety Academy goes beyond the norm to ensure you are ready for your future.
- High-Tech Training Equipment
Effective training starts with technologically advanced training aides. FlightSafety Academy offers some of the most modern and high-tech equipment of any flight school. The Academy has three Frasca 142 visual flight trainers, which provide you with excellent multi-engine instrument experience prior to flight, and a dedicated PCATD training lab. We are one of the only academies to offer effective ground training in spatial disorientation with our GAT II motion trainer and, unlike other schools, the Academy provides Unusual Attitude/Spin Recovery training in the Extra 300LP aircraft.
- An Emphasis on Academics
The best pilots must learn how to fly on the ground before they get their wings in the sky. At FlightSafety Academy, students in our Professional Pilot Program undergo more than 280 hours of academic education before graduating. We also limit class sizes to better provide opportunities for individual instruction. Most courses are FAR Part 141 approved, and some Part 61 training is available as well. Unlike most schools, the Academy offers education in other areas important to airlines and flight departments, such as Crew Resource Management. The Academy also maintains Self-Examining Authority from the FAA, allowing us to provide students with immediate official written exam results. What does this mean to you? You'll graduate knowing you're fully prepared for a solid career.
- Your Career Path
To be a professional pilot, it's best to train with a school that offers a variety of options for a professional career. At FlightSafety Academy, we provide you with career paths to choose from so you can start a career that best fits you. In fact, FlightSafety Academy is the only flight academy to offer a track into corporate aviation with the Business Jet Direct Course. If you're looking for a school that gives you options, you'll find it in FlightSafety Academy.
- Flying Friendly Environment
FlightSafety Academy's setting offers several advantages your neighborhood flight school probably can't provide. Because we are located in Vero Beach, Florida, you benefit from ideal flying weather year round, day and night. Furthermore, the Academy has the advantage of being on an airport complete with its own control tower with radar depiction and instrument approaches.
