FlightSafety was founded in 1951 by A.L. Ueltschi. An airline and business aircraft pilot, Ueltschi developed FlightSafety to provide professional state-of-the-art proficiency training. In 1966, FlightSafety established FlightSafety Academy in Vero Beach, Florida, to take advantage of near-perfect training weather.
The Vero Beach Municipal Airport, now refered to as the Vero Beach Regional Airport, was dedicated in 1930. It was used for commercial and passenger service in the 1930s, and became an U.S. Naval Air Station during world war II. Today KVRB averages 502 operations daily – with FlightSafety Academy comprising the largest number of those operations.
