Work As A Commercial Airline Pilot

Working as a commercial airline pilot is a dream of many young people nowadays. But not all of them will get to be pilots. First of all a pilot school has to be attended and then exams must be passed for receiving pilot certificates.

To be a pilot for hire those who have graduated pilot schools need to own a commercial airline pilot certificate. This certificate is obtained after having done at least 250 flight hours in different meteorological conditions and with certain maneuvers.

Also, a written ground school test must be passed along with a check-ride. The check ride resembles with the exam we all have to pass when getting the driver's license. An examiner will plan a flight and accompany the future pilot on that flight. The pilot will be asked to perform certain maneuvers with the plane and if everything goes well the pilot will receive the commercial airline pilot certificate.

Commercial airline pilots need an up to date medical certificate that will prove that the pilot has the entire medical and fitness requirements to work as a pilot. The pilot will also need an instrument rating, meaning that he will have permission to fly with low visibility if he had passed the instrument ground school and the instrument rating check-ride.

Working as a commercial airline pilot is a great job that does not only imply climbing aboard and flying the airplane, it is also about checking weather conditions and planning a safe route.

For those who want to become commercial airline pilots, an airline transport pilot certificate will be needed. This certificate will let the pilot fly a large commercial aircraft and be the pilot in command (the captain). This is the highest pilot certificate and can be obtained by passing a written exam, owning a first class medical certificate and 1,500 flight hours done including 250 hours as the pilot in command.
