Preparing For Certification With Pilot School

Attending pilot school helps get people ready to earn their pilot certificate, which involves four important steps. The schooling starts with instruction from a pilot school instructor at ground school, followed by a written exam, an oral exam, and a flight test. People must take several flight lessons and solo flights to prepare for the flight test, and there are also different requirements for people depending on whether they are in Part 61 or Part 41 of the pilot school.

Part 41 pilot school does not require as many hours for the various pilot ratings, but students have to be audited strictly by the Federal Aviation Administration and follow more stringent guidelines. Part 61 pilot school, on the other hand, requires more flight lessons to get the rating, but the instruction methods are more flexible. Ground schooling with a qualified pilot school instructor is the first part of any pilot school, though, and students must pass a computer-based FAA airman knowledge test before they are tested for flying ability.

The actual flight lessons consist of time in the plane with the pilot school instructor, and then after a certain period of time with the instructor the students can begin to fly solo. When choosing a pilot school, prospective students should take the time to meet their instructor. Flight lessons are fairly expensive, so students should make sure they are getting the most for their money. It should be an experience that will be enjoyed and remembered for a lifetime.
