Preparation Is The Key To Successful Pilot Training

Sometimes, people think of the ground portion of their airline pilot training as a waste of time and money. It may be true that this is the most tedious and least exciting portion of a career pilot training program, but it is also extremely important. Not only does having a bad attitude about groundwork make pilot training worse for everyone else around, but it can also keep students from getting in the air if they are not fully prepared.

It is critical to pay attention during the ground pilot training, because students who have not learned the coursework will not be able to go in the air with their instructor as scheduled. The ground portion of airline pilot training is also expensive, so it should be appreciated just as much as the flight time. A good mix of ground time and flight time makes for a well-rounded career pilot training program, and also produce a more knowledgeable pilot. Students should do their best to understand what is going to be covered in their pilot training classes beforehand, and be prepared to answer questions.

Those who arrive to their airline pilot training lessons unprepared may be required to spend more time on the ground before they can fly again, too. The flight portion of a career pilot training program should be considered a reward for completing the homework. Preparation is the key to more flight time, as the flight instructor's goal is to keep their students safe.
