Limitations Of Recreational Flight Training

The most basic type of flight training is recreational flying lessons, which will prepare people to fly only in single-engine planes within a 50-mile radius from their home airport. Pilots can only fly during daytime with a recreational license, and they cannot fly over 10,000 feet.

People usually choose to get their recreational license because they want the most accelerated flight training program, as this type of license requires the fewest logged hours. Recreational flying lessons are available for prospective pilots in most areas, and the schools provide the aircraft for students to complete their recreational flight training with. An accelerated flight training program should also include the supplies, and once the certificate is earned the pilot can rent planes from the school. This is the kind of flying lessons that people take when they just want to tool around in a plane as a hobby, but they can also take additional flight training at any time to get a higher certificate.

After a recreational pilot has finished their accelerated flight training, they can take short flights from time to time. Until they have logged at least 400 hours of solo flying, though, they are required to make three take offs and three landings every ninety days to be allowed to take passengers. The safety of a pilot and their passengers is very important, which is why recreational flying lessons are so limited. For someone who just wants to fly as an occasional hobby, though, they will definitely be sufficient.
