Ground school, flight training and check-ride required. This rating makes a pilot a pilot so now you have also an instrument rating. If you want to make a living of it you will need a commercial pilot rating.

The FED's will want to know if you can fly the plane smoothly. If you get this, now you have a commercial rating. Last but not least there's the ATP or Airline Transport Rating. You need 1,500 hours of experience to get this one. The ATP will indeed help you get a better job.
