Finding The Right Certified Flight Instructor

Certified flight lessons are an investment in one's future, and it's very important to have a flight school instructor that makes this the most rewarding experience possible. Checking the credentials of a certified flight instructor is a good place to start, but this will not tell anything about their teaching style or rapport with students. A flight school instructor can make or break a person's experience in flight school, and if can even affect one's ability to pass on to the next level in their training. Even after certified flight lessons begin, it's not too late to find another flight school instructor.

After many years of being a certified flight instructor, some people get burnt out and seem like they just don't care anymore. Some instructors might not even prepare a syllabus for their flight training because they just don't care enough. If the instructor isn't prepared to instruct their flight school students, they will not be prepared to complete the lessons at hand.

When student pilots are dissatisfied with their flight school instructor, they should start by letting them know about their concerns. If they do not respond, or worse, if they get angry, it may be time to move on and request another instructor. Whether it's because they're too inexperienced or because they're too burnt out to care any more, there's no excuse to continue working with a flight instructor who isn't doing their job. There's a good chance they might not have known what they were doing wrong, but if they are unreceptive, there is another certified flight instructor who probably will be.
