Climb The Levels Of Flight Training

Pilot school can take an individual through many different levels of learning, depending on how far they want to go. After mastering a set of basic skills, flight school students are allowed to fly solo, which is when the real learning begins. Flight schools require that students begin flying only around their home airport, but after logging more hours and proving a mastery of skills, pilots can spread their wings further.

Once the pilot school permits it, students can fly to another airport and back, but they may never carry passengers (other than the instructor) until they are certified. Flight schools usually require that students are at least 18 years old, although people can become sport or recreational pilots when they are 17 years old. Most people don't go to flight school to be a recreational pilot, though, because this only permits them to remain within 58 miles of their home airport unless they have approval from an instructor.

When pilot school students complete the sport or recreational license, they can only carry one passenger and are not allowed to fly through space where communication with air traffic controllers is required. From this point, many student pilots proceed through the levels of flight school to get the rating of private pilot. For more information on the more advanced flight schools, contact an institution such as Flight Safety Academy and talk with a flight instructor.
