Choosing A Certified Flight Instructor

The flight instructor is one of the most important aspects of flight lessons, so it is important for students to find an instructor they are comfortable with. Before a student begins working with a certified flight instructor, they should ask some serious questions.

Flight lessons can be steep investments, but if the student is not comfortable with the person they're in the air with, they might not get their money's worth. It is a good idea for a flight student to write down the questions they have for their flight instructor before they decide who to hire. Any questions that a student asks to a certified flight instructor in the hiring process should be direct, with a goal of determining whether they will be a good match. Not only should their teaching style be promising, but their personality should also be compatible.

Flight lessons require hours of time spent alone in a plane with this person, after all. They should be easy to follow, enthusiastic, comprehensible and good at what they do. If asking all sorts of tough questions to a certified flight instructor sounds rude or inappropriate, there's no need to worry. No one wants to be stuck taking flight lessons with someone they're not comfortable with for the duration of their training; they want to be with someone they can trust.

A flight instructor should be able to deal with any questions that a potential student might have; they're probably used to it. And if the pilot school assigns a random flight instructor, it should also be possible to change to another one during the training.
