Beginning Pilot TrainingAll beginning pilot training begins on the ground since the worst place to learn a new skill is in the airplane itself. It can be difficult to understand new airline pilot training exercises without reviewing them first on the ground. One reason pilot training should be first conducted on the ground is training in the cockpit can have environmental issues such as noise, turbulence, and temperature fluctuations that can make learning difficult. Since we all want to get up in the air as soon as possible, it is important to conduct any airline pilot training you can at home. There is no need to read your pilot training materials while at the airport. You can utilize the free time you have to read your pilot training guides so when you do get a chance to fly, you are ready to go. Pilot training by referring to the instruments only is hard to learn, but can be practiced on the ground. You have to do this to become a private pilot and if you want an instrument rating. Don't think of ground airline pilot training is a waste of your money. Don't have a bad attitude and hopefully your pilot training guide won't have one either. Also, poor preparation can hinder you. Ground time can be expensive and some charge the same rate for ground time as they do flight time. Try to include a mix of ground time and flight time. Be sure you know what is going to be covered before any airline pilot training lesson and find out what is expected from you. If you show up unprepared for a lesson, then expect to spend more time on the ground. You sure do not want to have your flight time shortened or even canceled. |
