Becoming A PilotThis article aims to explain the main methods for getting aviation training from having zero hours to becoming a licensed pilot. You could simply go to a flying school and do the entire aviation training course in one hit. The advantage with doing this is that you can get it all done quickly and besides, airlines prefer pilots who learnt via this route as long as it is with a good flying school. Unfortunately this aviation training type involves a lot of money. If you do chose this way, be sure to join a recommended flying school that the airlines recruit from because you will probably want to get a job when you're done. There are several aviation training degree courses at British universities (this might happen elsewhere in the world) that include pilot training in addition. One such course is aerospace engineering with pilot training at Liverpool in the UK. The advantages are that it costs less than the traditional flying school route. Also at the end of the course you will have a degree and a frozen ATPL and this in turn means you have an excellent qualification that could be used in later life. There aren't many sponsorship programs around for aviation training from airlines at the moment. Also if there are any they will be quite competitive to get on. In this way, an airline will train you to fly and then they will have you work for them for a minimum period. Well those are the main routes to getting aviation training. Though it was only a brief description of each it gives you an idea. If you are serious about becoming an airline pilot then start by doing plenty of research first. Good Luck and achieve your dream!
